Help My Existence I, 2019, acrylic, ocean jasper, and acrylic on paper adhered to canvas, 24x18 inches
This was the first piece painted in a series of three, all with the same title. In late 2019, I started getting intuitive feelings of dread and despair, but I couldn't identify from where it was coming. The feelings didn't feel solely mine, but rather a psychic compression wave of the collective trauma on the way. This is a psychic painting. I see human consciousness in the string of ocean jasper sewed onto the canvas because they look like a baby snake all together. The baby snake is interacting with a larger serpent, made of paint blots of paper. To me, this feels like an as above so below situation: humankind needs divine help to get through this tumultuous time in human history, while many mortals are deeply reconnecting with their higher selves for guidance. Good luck, my friends.
